Himanta Biswa Sharma said that in 2014, then Congress chief Sonia Gandhi wanted to make him the CM of Assam. But Rahul said that everything changed. ‘Madam (Sonia) told me to decide the date. I was going to take oath in June. The situation changed after Rahul spoke to party leaders in America on the phone,’ he alleged. He joined BJP from Congress in August 2015. He became CM in 2021.
