Survived 48 hours without lungs!
A 33-year-old man survived 48hrs without lungs. This was possible after doctors at Chicago Northwestern University installed an artificial lung system to provide oxygen and circulate blood to the heart. The patient's lungs were completely destroyed due to acute respiratory distress syndrome, so the doctors removed them. After 48hrs, a donor was found, and a successful double lung transplant was performed, according to Med Journal.
