The Elders’ Word is Law
In Nuvvalarevu, located in the Vajrapukothuru mandal of Srikakulam district, the word of the village elders has prevailed once again. It has become a tradition in this village to elect candidates chosen by the village elders. Although there was speculation that a contest was inevitable—as various political parties attempted to field their own candidates—the villagers demonstrated their unity once more. They gathered at the temple of the village deity, Brindavati Mata, and selected two MPTC (Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency) candidates.
