Those balls are for the audience!
New rules will come into effect in the BBL and WBBL tournaments held in Australia. If the ball hit by the batter 6 or 4 goes to the audience, they can take it. However, this applies only to the first over of the innings. The ball will be changed no matter how many times it is hit in that over. On the other hand, if the audience does not take the ball, a new one will be used from the second over. The umpires will keep some with them to avoid delays.
