Under the chairmanship of Rajnath Singh, defence procurement worth Rs 79,000 crore was approved.
New Delhi: The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in South Block, New Delhi, approved key proposals worth a total of ₹79,000 crore for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. These proposals will significantly enhance the combat capabilities, surveillance, and logistical support of the three services. According to reports, all proposals have been granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN).
The Army's Strength Will Increase
To enhance the Army's strength, the DAC has approved the procurement of three key equipment. These include:

Ground Based Mobile Electronic Intelligence System (GBMES): This system will provide 24x7 intelligence surveillance of enemy electronic signals and emitters.
High Mobility Vehicle (HMV) with Material Handling Crane: These vehicles will enhance cargo transportation and handling capabilities in difficult geographical areas.
Navy's capabilities will also be strengthened
Several proposals have also been approved to strengthen the Indian Navy's capabilities. Prominent among these are:
Landing Platform Dock (LPD): This ship will be capable of conducting joint amphibious operations with the Army and Air Force. It will also be useful in peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief operations.
30mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG): It will assist the Navy and Coast Guard in low-intensity maritime operations and anti-piracy operations.
Advanced Light Weight Torpedo (ALWT): This indigenous torpedo, developed by DRDO's NSTL, is capable of targeting conventional, nuclear, and mini-submarines.
Electro-Optical Infra-Red Search and Track System (EOIRST): It will aid in remote identification and tracking of enemy targets.
