Why: Seawater is salty..
When it rains, water mixes with the CO₂ in the air and turns acidic. Then it enters the rivers and dissolves rocks and soil, releasing salts like sodium and chloride into the sea. Then, when the water evaporates due to the heat of the sun, the salts remain in the sea. This has been happening for millions of years, and the average salinity of sea water has reached 3.5%. It contains 85% Nacl. Hydrothermal vents in the ocean also help in the growth of salts.
