"You are not the King of England—appear for the hearing!"
The Madras High Court reprimanded Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Maria Wilson, who had sought an exemption from appearing before a lower court regarding a case hearing. "You are not the King of England. Even a figure as prominent as former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao appeared before the court for proceedings. You are certainly not greater than that. Ministers are not above the law; you must appear for the hearing," the court asserted. A bench led by Justice V. Lakshminarayanan clarified this stance on Friday.
