Nagpur: Union Minister and Republican Party of India (RPI) leader Ramdas Athawale has made a major statement regarding the Bihar Assembly elections and international diplomacy. He described US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "dashing," saying it remains to be seen what they will accomplish together. He also responded sharply to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement, saying that PM Modi fears no one. Rahul Gandhi recently said that Modi is afraid of Trump. "When these two dashing leaders come together..." Athawale commented on Trump's statement that India would no longer buy oil from Russia. He added jokingly, "Trump is a dashing man, Narendra Modi is also a dashing man. When these two dashing leaders come together, it is unknown what they will do." He added that India and the US have good trade relations and that more than 5 million Indians live in the US. He said, "PM Modi has always taken decisions in the national interest. Friendship with Trump is important, and I welcome it." Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, Athawale gave a befitting reply to Rahul Gandhi's statement that PM Modi is afraid of Trump. He said, "We don't pay attention to what Rahul Gandhi says. We don't have that much time. We work for the country's development and benefit. We have had good relations with the US since the Congress era. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not afraid of anyone. Narendra Modi is not a coward, nor are we. Rahul Gandhi's statement lacks substance." Claims NDA victory in Bihar Athawale targeted the opposition Grand Alliance regarding the Bihar Assembly elections. He said that the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have not yet reached an agreement on seat sharing. He said, "If the Grand Alliance does not form an alliance, they will contest the elections on their own strength. This will benefit the NDA and Nitish Kumar will become Chief Minister again." Athawale said that PM Modi has already made it clear that the elections in Bihar are being fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and he will remain Chief Minister even if the government is formed. Athawale stated that his party, the RPI, is fully with the NDA and that he will campaign for the NDA in Bihar.
