New York: India at the United Nations has once again reaffirmed its consistent stance that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable path toward resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Reiterating its commitment to peace, New Delhi stated that it stands ready to support all genuine diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving an early and lasting resolution to the crisis. The remarks were made by India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador P Harish, on Thursday (local time in the United States), during a session of the UN General Assembly. Speaking at the General Assembly Debate on ‘The situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine’, Ambassador Harish emphasized that India remains deeply concerned about the evolving situation in the region. “India continues to remain concerned over the situation in Ukraine. We maintain that the loss of innocent lives is unacceptable, and no solution can be found on the battlefield,” he said, underlining India’s call for restraint, humanitarian support, and constructive engagement from all parties involved. India has consistently maintained a balanced approach, advocating for respect for international law and the UN Charter, while urging both sides to de-escalate and return to the negotiating table. The country has also extended humanitarian aid to Ukraine and voiced support for efforts that can pave the way for sustainable peace.
