Changes in the BJP's central team may take place soon; top leaders have held discussions.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Naveen met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. According to sources, BJP General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santhosh was also present at the meeting, which lasted nearly three hours at Shah's residence. Although no official details regarding the meeting were released, several issues were discussed, including the formation of the BJP's new team of national office-bearers. Amidst speculation about a reshuffle in the BJP's central team, this meeting between senior party leaders is considered highly significant. Sources indicated that discussions covered the formation of the new national team, organizational changes, the appointment of in-charges for certain states, and potential changes within the top leadership.
According to sources, the new BJP central team—led by Naveen, who became the party's national president in January—is likely to include a mix of "senior and young leaders." They also mentioned that some leaders currently holding government positions might be inducted into the party organization and entrusted with key responsibilities. Sources stated that the names of the leaders to be included in the new central team would be announced soon.
**Nitin Naveen to visit UP after Telangana**
The BJP National President will visit Uttar Pradesh following his trip to Telangana. He was in Telangana from June 28 to June 30, where he urged BJP workers to strive for a "double-engine government." He is now set to visit Uttar Pradesh, where discussions will focus on finalizing the strategy for the 2027 assembly elections. In a move to strengthen its organizational structure ahead of the 2027 polls, the BJP replaced all six regional presidents on Thursday and appointed 19 vice-presidents and eight general secretaries. Nineteen state-level office-bearers were also appointed. A party leader stated that National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santhosh, along with party chief Nitin Naveen, would visit Lucknow for two days starting July 3. Chaudhary informed that, in addition to preparations for the top leadership's visit, the new team would be assigned the task of a "booth" verification drive. He had stated that, alongside conducting a booth verification drive, the new team would work to take the party's ideology, policies, and the 'double-engine' government's public welfare schemes to the booth level.
