China Puts the Brakes on Guntur Chilli!
Guntur chilli exports have suffered a setback. Customs officials in China rejected consignments belonging to three export companies. This decision was reportedly taken after tests revealed that the chilli in the containers contained residues of the pesticide 'Methamidophos' exceeding permissible limits. Last month, Guntur-based chilli export companies had shipped the produce in containers to China via the Chennai shipyard.
