When we think of the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, oil and gas are the first things that come to mind. However, beyond just these two commodities, a significant portion of the fertilizers required by our country is also supplied from that region. Amidst the current tense geopolitical climate, the government faces a significant challenge in determining how to safely transport these supplies from West Asia. According to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC), Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain collectively account for a 37% share of India's fertilizer imports.
