High Court Petition Against Herbicide Ban
Amaravati: A petition has been filed in the High Court challenging the Government Order (GO) issued by the State Agriculture Department on May 22, which banned the sale of 'Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL' herbicide for 60 days. V. Venkata Nagi Reddy, State President of the Fertilizers, Pesticides, and Seed Dealers Association, filed the petition. He stated that the ban was imposed based on a letter from the Director General of Police (DGP)—citing suicides caused by consuming the herbicide—without providing an opportunity to raise objections.
