Himanta Biswa Sarma's Resounding Victory
Guwahati: In the Assam Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma—registered a hat-trick victory. Himanta himself achieved a grand victory in his home constituency, Jalukbari, securing a lead of over 89,000 votes. His opponent, Bidisha Neog of the Congress party, polled 31,951 votes. Himanta Biswa Sarma had left the Congress party and joined the BJP in 2015.
