Muslims Constitute the Majority of Congress Winners
New Delhi: Among the candidates who secured victory on behalf of the Congress party in the recent assembly elections held across four states, the majority are Muslims. A state-wise breakdown reveals that in Assam, where the Congress won a total of 19 seats, Muslim candidates emerged victorious in 18 constituencies. Here, the party allotted tickets to 20 Muslim candidates. Of the two candidates who won from the Congress ally, the Raijor Dal, one is a Muslim. The Congress party successfully secured Kerala in its tally. In this state, which comprises 140 assembly seats, 35 Muslim candidates contesting from various political parties emerged victorious.
