Inaugural Rituals for Navaratri Brahmotsavams Today
Tirumala: Tirumala has been beautifully decked up for the Navaratri Brahmotsavams. The festivities are scheduled to take place from the 12th to the 20th of this month. According to the lunar calendar, an *Adhika Masam* (extra month) occurs once every three years. In such years, the annual Brahmotsavams are conducted during the *Kanya Masam* (Bhadrapada month), while the Navaratri Brahmotsavams are held during the *Dasara Navaratri* period (Ashwayuja month). The *Ankurarpana* (seed-sowing ritual marking the commencement) for the Navaratri Brahmotsavams will be performed according to scriptural traditions on Sunday night between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The *Dhwajarohanam* (flag-hoisting) and *Dhwajavarohanam* (flag-lowering) rituals are not part of the Navaratri Brahmotsavams.
