Karnataka Farmers Diverting Telangana’s Share of Water
Gadwal: Farmers have expressed concern that their counterparts in Karnataka are illegally diverting the share of water from the Tungabhadra Dam that is rightfully allocated to Telangana. Due to the impact of El Niño this year, the natural flood inflow expected at the RDS (Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme) barrage has not materialized. Consequently, a large portion of the 3 TMC of water—allocated to the state on a proportional basis—is disappearing upstream before reaching the RDS barrage, leaving farmers in Telangana deeply worried.
