Lawyers' protest over judge appointments
Lawyers staged a protest outside the High Court on Wednesday, demanding that only lawyers from Telangana state be appointed as High Court judges. They expressed their objection to the fact that lawyers from Andhra were being considered for appointment as High Court judges. They stated that a resolution had recently been passed at a general body meeting to appoint only Telangana natives as judges and added that they intended to meet the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Law Minister, the Governor, and the Chief Minister regarding this matter.
