Modi's Call Jeopardizes Goldsmiths' Livelihoods
Proddatur: Responding to a call from the State Committee of the Goldsmiths' Association, goldsmiths in Proddatur, Kadapa district, staged a protest on Tuesday by shutting down their shops and workshops. This protest was held in opposition to Prime Minister Modi's appeal to the public to refrain from purchasing gold. The goldsmiths marched in a rally from Main Bazaar to the Tahsildar's office to voice their dissent. Speaking on this occasion, Uppaluru Ilyas Basha, State Working President of the Goldsmiths' Association, expressed deep anguish, stating that the call urging the public to refrain from purchasing gold for a year amounts to snatching the livelihoods of goldsmiths.
