Monsoon Making a Comeback!
Although more than a month and a half has passed since the Southwest Monsoon entered the country, there has been a lack of adequate rainfall in many states so far; El Niño conditions are the reason for this. Over the past few weeks, cloud cover has thinned, and rainfall has been confined largely to the Himalayan region. Amidst this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has brought welcome news to those awaiting rain across the country. It announced that the monsoon is poised to regain strength due to favorable conditions forming for a new low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.
