Prices of cancer drugs set to decrease
New Delhi: A significant step has been taken toward reducing the prices of cancer medications. The central government has capped the trade margin at 30 percent on the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of 137 types of cancer drugs that fall under the 'non-scheduled' category (those not subject to direct price controls). A gazette notification to this effect was issued on Saturday. According to this, the new prices will come into effect from November 9. With this decision, the retail prices of these medicines are set to decrease by up to approximately 70 percent compared to their current prices.
