rekha sharma: tragedy due to admin failure, collector evading accountability
Karur, Tamil Nadu | Following the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives, TV personality and actor Vijay said, "I have never faced such a painful situation in my life. I am deeply saddened... Leaving aside all politics, we always ask the police for permission to evacuate. But what should not have happened has happened... I will meet the victims soon... I express my deepest condolences to the families who are grieving this loss... My party officials have been arrested by the police..."
"Do not harm the officials"
Vijay said, "Chief Minister, I request you—please do not harm my party officials. You can come to my house or my office and take any action against me, but not against them... Soon, the truth will be revealed."
He further said, "I am also a human being. When so many people have been affected, how can I leave them and come back? I did not go because I wanted to ensure that no such unpleasant incident happens again."
My words will never compensate for the loss of those who lost their loved ones. However, I express my condolences to the families. I wish those undergoing treatment in the hospital a speedy recovery. I will visit you all very soon. Understanding our grief, I want to express my gratitude to the party leaders who spoke out for us. We campaigned in five districts, but why and how this happened in Karur? The public knows everything. The public is watching.
From what the people of Karur are saying, it seems as if God himself has come and revealed everything. The truth will soon be revealed. I did nothing more than go to the place we were given and give a speech. Despite this, an FIR is being filed against our party members and our social media team. CM Sir, if you want revenge, do whatever you want to do to me, but don't touch them. I will remain at home or in my office. Friends of the party, our political journey will continue to move forward with even greater strength.
Rajya Sabha MP said
Referring to the stampede, Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma said, "The administration has no answers because the fault lies with them. First, they allowed a large crowd to gather in a small area, and there were no police, water, or ambulance arrangements. The Collector is not meeting with us because I believe he is responsible for this. We have sent our questions, which he will have to answer."
