Sanai Takaichi elected as Japan's Prime Minister
A new chapter in Japan's history has begun. Sanae Takaichi, a leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, has been elected as the first female prime minister. She won 237 votes out of a total of 465 in the election held in the lower house of parliament. Takaichi's election will also be a formality in the upper house. She has been recognized as the 'Iron Lady of Japan'.
