1601 Number Series
New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken a key decision as part of measures to curb unwanted calls. On Monday, a directive was issued mandating the use of the '1601' number series specifically for transaction and service-related calls made by companies outside the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) and government sectors. In the initial phase, service and transaction calls from companies in the utilities, courier, and logistics sectors are being brought under the ambit of the '1601' number series.
