Circle Renamed After Tipu Sultan: Tensions Rise in Kadapa
Kadapa: Tensions flared up at the Almas Pet Circle within the city. A controversy erupted over the decision to rename the circle as "Tipu Sultan Circle." One section of the community is strongly opposing the naming of the Almaspet Circle after Tipu Sultan and is insisting that it be renamed Hanuman Circle. Another section has launched a protest demanding that the name Tipu Sultan be retained. Consequently, members of both factions gathered at the circle and began protesting. The police immediately resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse both groups.
