The DGCA has announced that airlines will no longer levy additional charges for 60% of the seats on their flights. It stated that this directive will come into effect starting April 20. The regulatory body has instructed airlines to maintain transparency regarding this matter. Currently, this quota of free seats is limited to 20%; for the remaining seats, airlines charge an additional fee ranging from ₹200 to ₹2,100 per ticket. With these latest orders, the flexibility to select a seat without incurring extra charges will increase.
