Amaravati: A prepaid system for government electricity services is set to be implemented starting Monday. Smart meters have already been installed for various government services—including government offices, water works, and streetlights—across the jurisdictions of the state's three DISCOMs. These smart meters have been converted into prepaid meters to enhance transparency regarding electricity consumption and billing for government services. This new system is expected to be highly effective in resolving the issue of outstanding dues owed by government electricity services.
