New Delhi: While Dussehra is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country today, the nation is also remembering two of its great personalities on their birthdays. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rajghat, the memorial of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, on his birth anniversary and paid tribute to him. He then visited Vijay Ghat, the memorial of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, and paid homage to him on his birthday. Changed the course of human history The Prime Minister posted on the social media platform X, saying, "Gandhi Jayanti is a day to pay tribute to the extraordinary life of our beloved Bapu, whose ideals changed the course of human history. He showed how courage and simplicity can become instruments of great change." Modi said that Gandhi considered the power of service and compassion essential for empowering people. The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the country's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary also falls on Thursday. He described Lal Bahadur Shastri as an extraordinary statesman whose honesty, humility, and determination strengthened India. The Prime Minister said, "Lal Bahadur Shastri was a symbol of exemplary leadership, strength, and decisive action. His call of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' instilled patriotism in our people. He continues to inspire us in our endeavor to build a strong and self-reliant India." Purchasing Swadeshi Products is a True Tribute to Gandhi and Shastri PM Modi has placed great emphasis on Swadeshi. He said that purchasing products manufactured by Indians would be a true tribute to Gandhi and Shastri. He said that Swadeshi is the foundation of a self-reliant and developed India. Born in Gujarat in 1869, Gandhi is considered the most influential Indian of his era because he shaped the country's independence movement through truth and non-violence and gained a worldwide following. Shastri was born in Uttar Pradesh in 1904 and became the Prime Minister of the country after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru. During his short tenure as Prime Minister, his integrity and leadership of the country, even when India fought a war with Pakistan, earned him universal praise.
