UPI Charges: Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah Supports the Centre
Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has defended the move to levy a 0.4% charge on Person-to-Merchant (P2M) UPI payments. He clarified that the burden of these charges would not fall on every UPI app user; the fee applies only to transactions exceeding ₹2,000. He further noted that this charge is borne by the merchant, not the ordinary consumer. He spoke to the media in Srinagar on Thursday and reminded everyone that Person-to-Person (P2P) payments remain completely free.
