Varshini Becomes Woman Grandmaster
Sahithi Varshini, a 19-year-old from a Telugu family, has achieved the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM). She secured the third and final norm required for this title at the IM-7 Round-Robin tournament held in Serbia. Varshini finished in second place, scoring 6 points out of a total of 9 rounds. She defeated fellow Indians Nilesh Saha and Vedant Panesar. Recording a performance rating of 2408, she gained 23 rating points.
