Paris: A visit to the Eiffel Tower by a group of devotees from the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) sect has sparked a controversy. The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris was temporarily closed after staff went on strike, alleging discrimination during the BAPS group's visit. About 100 BAPS representatives—who had arrived for the consecration of the first major Hindu temple built in France—visited the Eiffel Tower on Sunday morning. The controversy arose from measures taken to ensure that female staff members did not come into contact with the group during the visit.
